1. Install Flash for Firefox in Ubuntu 8.10
2. Upgrade OpenOffice.org to version 3 in Ubuntu 8.10
3. Install VLC media player in Ubuntu 8.10
4. Install Adobe Reader in Ubuntu 8.10
5. Install support for mp3, java, flash and others in Ubuntu 8.10

  1. Is it really necessary to install Adobe Reader, when we have free alternatives like Evince, Okular and KPDF ?

  7. Adobe reader is a multi-megabyte unstable hog and spyware. Don't use it on any platform. KPDF, Evince, and Ghostview all do the job just fine. Ghostview is bit rough around the edges, but it foils protected PDFs :)

  10. Personally, I don't get too hung up over Free vs OSS. Free means free to choose as well.
