Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope RC (Release Candidate) released

Hello guys and girls, I have great news for you! Well, as you might already know, Ubuntu is only 6-7 days away from hitting the internet. They just released Ubuntu 9.04 Jaunty Jackalope RC. This is the final testing version before it get's released to everyone. It will include a new notification system, GNOME 2.26 desktop environment, faster booting time and of course, many updates.

Here is the official website.

Download links:
PC (Intel x86) desktop CD
For almost all PCs. This includes most machines with Intel/AMD/etc type processors and almost all computers that run Microsoft Windows, as well as newer Apple Macintosh systems based on Intel processors. Choose this if you are at all unsure.

64-bit PC (AMD64) desktop CD
Choose this to take full advantage of computers based on the AMD64 or EM64T architecture (e.g., Athlon64, Opteron, EM64T Xeon, Core 2). If you have a non-64-bit processor made by AMD, or if you need full support for 32-bit code, use the Intel x86 images instead.

  1. I got a question will this be the same as the final relese? if is not then will the changes come up with the updater in the OS will it be a complete upgrade if they only change few things before the final day? I dont want to download things twice thats my problem.

  2. Just downloaded and am installing on daughter's PC. She just got inundated in Windows viruses and I have spent the last 2 days removing them and fixing her boot loader.

    I'm done.

Installing Ubuntu. She can run iTunes from an MS V-box. That is really the only thing she requires windows for that can't be done cleanly on Linux...but I'm still working on that one.

    Tips welcome.

  3. Bishop... have you tried out songbird? Pretty similar and gets the job done. No iTunes store obviously, but it does have ipod support.
